Privacy Policy

The short version: we collect as little as we can, we never sell your data, and we explain everything in plain English below.

1. Who we are

This Privacy Policy explains how Tang Software LLC ("Tang Software," "we," "us," or "our") handles information in connection with our websites and mobile games, including BubbleMerge and Apartment 520 (together, the "Services"). By using our Services, you agree to the practices described here.

We are an independent game studio. We don't run an advertising network, we don't profile you, and we have no interest in collecting data we don't need to make and support good games.

2. What we collect

We've designed our games to keep most data on your own device. Here's the full picture:

Information stored on your device

  • Game progress and settings — your levels, stars, choices, and preferences. This lives on your device and, if you use iCloud, in your personal iCloud account. We don't have access to your iCloud data.

Information we receive automatically

  • Diagnostic and crash data — if a game crashes or misbehaves, we may receive anonymized, aggregated reports (such as device model, operating system version, and the technical state at the time of a crash) so we can fix bugs. These reports are not linked to your identity.
  • Aggregate usage statistics — anonymous counts such as how many players reached a level, used to improve game balance. These cannot be traced back to an individual.

Information you choose to give us

  • Contact details — if you email us or use a form on this site (for example, the Apartment 520 launch list or our contact form), we receive the email address and any details you include, solely to respond to you or to send the one message you requested.

Purchases

  • In-app purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your full payment details. We receive only Apple's confirmation that a purchase was made so we can unlock the corresponding content.

3. How we use information

We use the limited information above only to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve our games;
  • Diagnose crashes and fix bugs;
  • Unlock content you've purchased;
  • Respond to your support requests and messages;
  • Send the specific notification you asked for (such as a launch alert), and nothing more; and
  • Comply with legal obligations and protect against fraud or abuse.

We do not use your information to build advertising profiles, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

4. Sharing & third parties

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share information only in these limited cases:

  • Service providers — trusted vendors that help us run the Services (for example, Apple for app distribution and payments, and a crash-reporting provider). They may process data only on our behalf and under contract.
  • Legal reasons — if required by law, regulation, or valid legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of our players or our studio.
  • Business transfers — if Tang Software is involved in a merger or acquisition, information may transfer as part of that transaction; we'll notify you of any change in ownership or use of your personal information.

5. Children's privacy

Our games are suitable for general audiences, but they are not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us at support@tangsoftware.net and we will delete it promptly.

6. Data retention

We keep contact information (such as support emails or launch-list sign-ups) only as long as needed for the purpose you gave it to us, after which we delete it. Anonymized diagnostic and usage data may be retained in aggregate form because it cannot identify you. Game progress is controlled by you on your device and in your iCloud account.

7. Your rights & choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. We honor these rights for all players, wherever you are:

  • Access or deletion: email support@tangsoftware.net with the subject "Data request." We'll respond within 30 days.
  • Launch list / emails: ask us to remove your address at any time and we will.
  • Device data: you can clear game data by deleting the app, and manage iCloud sync in your device settings.

We will never charge you for exercising these rights or treat you differently for doing so.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS) for our website and limiting who on our team can access any data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to keep the surface area small by simply not collecting much in the first place.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our games evolve or as laws change. When we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide a more prominent notice. Continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the revised policy.
